California-based gBox, Inc., has received funding from the Swiss-based BrainsToVentures (b-to-v) Investors Circle.
gBox is an exciting portal store and social commerce widget for gift-giving online which was developed by a group of passionate individuals who believe commerce should happen at the edge of the network - in a blog, on a social network, on your personal website - not just among a few centralized online retailers.
gBox allows users to create wishlists of their favorite digital content, e.g. songs. These wishlists are made available through widgets in online social communities. Other users can review the wishlists, pick individual items and directly transmit them to the receiving users as a gift, e.g. songs are sent as mp3-files. gBox went online in September 2007 and is available e.g. on facebook.com.
